Eliott’s debut EP is fueled by the emotional confusion of growing up. The soulful singer, who hails from a small town a few hours north of Melbourne, is remarkably honest, melding her somber piano- and synth-laced songs with lyrics such as “It's hard in the city, but it's nothing like this/Back where it started, and I'm stuck in my head,” in “Over & Over.” “Figure It Out” is about trying to find herself while living in Melbourne: “I keep thinking/Being bold enough to take the train up north,” she sings. She did eventually find the courage, journeying up to the Blue Mountains, near Sydney, where much of this EP was written.
