Leona Lewis
I Am
Album · Pop · 2015 · Universal-Island Records Ltd.
On her fifth studio album, I Am, the pop diva transforms quiet confidence into glorious, loud-and-proud moments—mourning past mistakes (“You Knew Me When,” “Thick Skin”) before rising like a phoenix (“Fire Under My Feet,” “Thunder,” “Power”). Her determination is matched by upbeat production and a crystalline multi-octave voice, which she uses to delicious effect throughout. Anyone who’s felt doubted, wronged, or cheated—there’s an empowerment anthem here just for you.
