The elegance of Shankar’s technique is on full display as he establishes a meditative mood in the 12-minute “Jor (Raga Jogeshwari),” moving through melodic string bends and harmonic resonances. “Raga Mohan Kauns” is more mysterious, spanning the low and high registers of his Indian classical instrument, while “Improvisation on the Theme of ‘Rokudan’” adds Japanese influences with koto and shakuhachi flute.
