Kaskade’s Redux sets are legendary among fans—they’re the rare chance to hear the dance-music titan play from the depths of his crates, pulling out house classics, custom edits, and all manner of mystery tunes. Redux 003 marks the third occasion that some of those IDs finally make it out of the club. It really shows his range: “Tight” and “Fun,” both featuring Madge, dip their respective toes into bassline house and electroclash; “On Your Mind” takes future house into slow-motion territory; and “2nd Street” is straight-up deep house with an early-'90s pedigree. Meanwhile, “The Diner”—a version of Suzanne Vega's “Tom's Diner”—is proof of Kaskade’s ability to put a fresh spin on an old favorite. There’s a reason he’s one of the scene’s most beloved DJs: Digging beyond trends or temporary subgenres, he can make an old song sound brand new, and a first encounter with an unknown track feel like listening to something you’ve known your whole life.
