EDM blitzkriegs take a backseat on this defiantly old school solo album from DJ, producer, and general keeper of the house music flame, Lee Foss. It’s a move that makes sense given this Chicago native shares a birthplace with his chosen genre. But in truth, whatever your dance allegiance, there’s a seam of soulfulness running through Alchemy (be it the hypnotic vocal collage of “Deep Congo” or Anjulie’s disco-ready falsetto on “Green Light”) that’s impossibly, propulsively seductive.
