Iron Maiden's second album is where the band's metal power truly takes hold. Original singer Paul Di'Anno's powerful wail still dominates (Bruce Dickinson didn't take over as front man until 1982's The Number of the Beast), but Killers introduces Maiden's signature twin-guitar attack of Dave Murray and Adrian Smith. The twisting harmonies of their lead-off instrumental showcase "The Ides of March" set the tone, while the barbaric thrust and disturbing imagery of "Wrathchild" and "Murders in the Rue Morgue" define the band's chilling early sound.
