Fitz and The Tantrums
Man on The Moon
Album · Alternative · 2025
A decade on from their 2016 dance directive “Handclap,” Fitz and The Tantrums remain as committed as ever to the job of bringing our palms together to a snappy backbeat. The LA group’s sixth album, Man on the Moon, refines their post-Motown alt-pop aesthetic down to a science, presenting a virtual jukebox loaded with 14 potential singles that never relent in their hip-shaking and spirit-lifting intent. “OK OK OK” compacts all of The Tantrums’ signature traits—spine-cracking rhythms, blasts of brass, soul-revue energy, and, yes, handclaps—into an instant floor-filler that clocks in under two minutes flat, while the space-themed, string-laden title track hovers somewhere between Stax and the stars. And even when Fitz and co. tweak the formula here and there—be it with the Phoenix-like cosmopolitan pop of “Perfume” or the tropical R&B vibe of “Waste My Time”—the net result is the same: clothes drenched in sweat, dancing shoes worn down to the sole, and a smile smeared across your face.
