After a series of soundtrack collaborations and joint appearances on the 2025-26 Peel It Back Tour, the union of industrial-rock icon Trent Reznor and German Iraqi EDM producer Alexander Ridha (aka Boys Noize) was officially consummated on April 11, 2026, at Coachella, where their hybrid act performed a full set of reimagined NIN standards accompanied by a fiery stage spectacle that resembled a satanic Cirque du Soleil. Nine Inch Noize mirrors the set list with a combination of studio and live recordings, blurring the lines between career-spanning greatest-hits compilation, remix album, and concert document to reframe familiar favorites in alien contexts: The sacrilegious Downward Spiral rager “Heresy” is given a seductive spin thanks to guest vocals from Reznor’s wife Mariqueen Maandig, while the icy electro minimalism of Hesitation Marks’ “Copy of A” is transformed into a slow-building techno-drama. But Nine Inch Noize is also an opportunity for Reznor to shine a new light on the more obscure corners of his career, from faithful recreations of various Year Zero deep cuts to a pulse-pounding reboot of “Parasite” (from Reznor and Maandig’s How to Destroy Angels project). And in dusting off Nine Inch Nails’ cover of Soft Cell’s “Memorabilia,” Reznor manages to honor his ’80s synth-pop roots while fully submitting himself to Ridha’s freaky futurism.
