Demented Thoughts
Album · Hip-Hop/Rap · 2008
Recorded between 1993 and 1996 at the shared apartment of New York underground radio kingpins Bobbito Garcia and Stretch Armstrong, these tracks are super-rare and outrageously funky, and all were produced by Cenobites mastermind Godfather Don. Mistakenly thought to be destroyed or lost to the winds of time, they were officially released (on a hyper-limited, vinyl-only basis) in 2008 and are now finally available online. Bugged-out lyricism and neck-breaking beats are the order of the day, with Don's twisted genius in full effect. Plus, there are quality verses from the inimitable Kool Keith ("Slaves"), Bobbito (whose verse on "Hawaii" was later sampled by The Beatnuts), and a very young Cage ("Hot Crib Promo"). If you have the previously released EP on Fondle 'Em and/or the expanded reissue—or if you're just a fan of hardcore '90s-era NYC hip-hop—this is the real deal. Don't miss "Don, Don, Don," "That's How I'm Goin' Out," and "MC's Out to Murder the World."
