Since 1997, the Parisian composer, DJ, multi-instrumentalist, remix artist, and sound engineer Alexkid has recorded his own music and worked his remix magic for artists like George Michael and Damian Lazarus. With his 2011 EP Shesgottoleave, Alexkid drops beats like bricks. The title track is nothing but layered drum machine patterns for a minute and a half before a looped vocal slowly seeps in. Crawling into the song with a similarly sublime presence are tastefully tucked keyboard parts that hint at Alexkid’s '90s house roots. “The Radio Slave Break for Love” remix of “Shesgottoleave” brings those retro house keys upfront over a sequenced high hat, as ambient crowd noise mumbles underneath and lead singing is eventually added in. Conversely, “Radio Slave's Break for Love Beats” starts with just the vocals and beats blasting under controlled reverb until a hint of bass comes in to keep things a little different.
