A Toronto R&B lover boy seeks long-term commitment. It doesn’t take long for Dylan Sinclair to make good on the promise of his fourth record’s title. The Toronto singer is blessed with one of those church-schooled voices that certainly makes you feel—as the opening “Rich Luv” demonstrates, he can effortlessly transform a minimalist, trap-spiked R&B track into a surging tsunami of passion and sweat. But while Sinclair may be a lover boy, he is first and foremost a gentleman: “Squeeze” may describe a make-out session in the middle of the club, but it’s rendered as a slow-motion boudoir ballad, as if Sinclair is talking his partner through this intimate moment frame-by-frame, making sure she’s cool with a little PDA on the dance floor. And with the dramatic dream-soul serenade “Safe to Say,” he’s not simply admiring his girl’s hot bod but pledging to stay by her side “till we’re gray and old.”
