LENCHO made his name in what feels like record time, even for a scene as fast-paced as contemporary corridos. After his auspicious appearance on Peso Pluma and Tito Double P’s joint album DINASTÍA (DELUXE) and a handful of well-received singles of his own, the Baja California Sur singer presents his most complete musical statement yet on his Rancho Humilde debut TEOFANIA.
Roughly half of these tracks feature noteworthy artists in the música mexicana world, including Armenta, Gera MX, and Luis R Conriquez. Naturally, the aforementioned Peso Pluma shows up nice and early on the raucous standout “ENCERRONES,” while LENCHO’s fellow riser Rey Quinto proves a formidable foil on “MADALENA.”
On his own, he gleefully spreads salacious sentiments via cuts like “Chiclona” and the somewhat more graphic “Shifu.” Elsewhere, he tinkers with the album title’s spiritually derived meaning on “DIARIO DE NOAH” and reveals a more sensitive side on the sad-sierreño-styled “Perdón.”
