A highly collaborative return to the hitmaking singer’s roots.
Luis R Conriquez assuredly surprised many of his fans with 2025’s Meneo, a significant genre departure for the increasingly adventurous música mexicana star. Nearly one year later, the Caborca, Sonora, native eyes his roots while applying his heightened skills on the highly collaborative Muchacho Alegre.
His fellow hitmaker Tito Double P comes through for album highlight “Medusa,” a cutting corrido centered around conspicuous wealth and the temptations that befall its moneyed beneficiaries. Elsewhere, Peso Pluma brings along baddies and bricks for the willfully felonious “Bandida,” while Neton Vega helps to navigate the emotional minefield of a bad breakup on the single “Que Gacho.”
And while certainly no stranger to teaming up with other notable artists, some of Conriquez’s configurations here go beyond what’s expected and yield extraordinary results. He brings together Anuel AA and Fuerza Regida for the substance-fueled caper “Hay Con Que,” later performing a similar trick with Oscar Maydon and Panter Bélico on the wholeheartedly earnest “Solo Tú.” Occasionally, he orchestrates full-on posse cuts, particularly on “Madrugada” with Calle 24, Chuyin, and Jorsshh in tow.
