After releasing the downbeat, ponderous album 6 in 2023, Sweden’s Graveyard has started rocking again. The opening track on Fever concedes the departure with “Back from the Grave,” a psychedelic resurrection ceremony that paves the way for the punky ripper “Tongue Tied” and the appropriately titled “A Better Cut (Note to Self),” a fiery throwback to their 2011 breakout, Hisingen Blues.
Vocalist/guitarist Joakim Nilsson is in top form on the raucous “Year of the Horse” and the Creedence-inspired swamp blues of “Time To Tell.” The only mellow moment on the album is closer “Dead Note,” which still manages to conjure more life—and rock ’n’ roll—than anything on Graveyard’s previous outing.
