Heaven Is for Real (Original Motion Picture Score)
Album - Original Score, Music, Soundtrack
Nick Glennie-Smith has collaborated with Hans Zimmer on such ‘90s popcorn icons as The Rock and Point of No Return, worked with Roger Waters on Radio K.A.O.S. and the Where the Wind Blows soundtrack, and even produced the music for France’s Puy du Fou historical theme park. But director/longtime collaborator Randall Wallace (Man in the Iron Mask, We Were Soldiers, Secretariat) may have presented the composer with his most unique challenge: what does heaven sound like? And just as crucially, what’s the musical and emotional language of the earthbound people who doubt your tales of being there? Glennie-Smith strikes a delicate balance throughout, playing musical tradition off ethereal inventions and turning melancholy to hope with a stately musical grace that’s in perfect accord with authors Todd Burpo and Lynn Vincent’s inspirational source material.
