This murky mixtape is a thrilling exemplar of U.K. hip-hop’s drill scene. As core members of Brixton Hill’s 67 collective, the trio use riveting wordplay and steady-pulsed belligerence to deliver tales of violence, contraband and street rivalries. Carved from horror-movie synths and rhythms that creep and drip, Carns Hill’s trap-inflected beats are eerie and discomfiting but consistently infectious. “Skeng Man” and “67 (Today)” are where the formula works best, evoking the slow, tense glide of a midnight drive around an unfamiliar neighborhood.
