Italian harpsichordist and organist Roberto Loreggian is an active performer, recording artist, and educator, based in Padua. After earning his diplomas in organ and harpsichord with honors, he studied with Ton Koopman at the Royal Conservatory at The Hague. Loreggian has performed with several orchestras, including Orchestra di Padove e del Veneto, the Orchestra da Camera di Mantova, the Haydn Orchestra di Bolzano e Trento, the Accademia i Filarmonici of Verona, I Virtuosi Italiani, the Athestis Chorus, and La Stagione Armonica, and has appeared with various chamber groups as a continuo player. He has specialized in solo harpsichord music of the Baroque era, notably editing the manuscripts of Giovan Battista Ferrini's keyboard music, which he recorded for Tactus. Loreggian's productive recording career has yielded albums of music by Johann Sebastian Bach, George Frederick Handel, Georg Philipp Telemann, Antonio Vivaldi, and Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach, though he has also focused on less familiar composers, such as Andrea Lucchesi, Bernardo Pasquini, Baldassare Galuppi, and Gaetano Valeri, among others. He has also embarked on a series of the complete keyboard works of Girolamo Frescobaldi for Brilliant Classics. Loreggian teaches at the Conservatory of Music "Cesare Pollini" in Padua. ~ Blair Sanderson
