About Dylan Swinson
In the artist’s words:
Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail.
My mother drove me to elementary school and played whatever she had in her CD player. She had Closer by Better Than Ezra, Galore by The Cure, and several Edwin McCain CDs. One day she puts in Jeff Buckley's Grace, and that just changed everything.
What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular?
Jeff Buckley, Grace
My Chemical Romance, The Black Parade
Sky Sailing, An Airplane Carried Me to Bed
Grace has pretty much been with me all of my life. I wouldn't be here without Jeff. BP is one of the greatest concept albums of all time, no skips end of discussion. Although SS was a one off, I adore this album and its Acoustic Oceanic soundscape.
Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song.
“Playing for Keeps”
It's a song of many firsts for me. It was my first professionally recorded song, my first to played on the most popular radio station in Charleston, and my first to 1,000 streams on S*****. It's about taking over the world with your best friend.
What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far?
During covid, I got to perform a livestream concert at the North Charleston Performing Arts Center, a place where I grew up going to see many shows. It was unreal to be able to perform on a stage like that. Would have loved to have had people there.
Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band?
So many, it would be a dream to play the Glastonbury or the Reading Festival in the UK. And since Warped Tour is back, why not add that on there.
