About Tempalay
Tempalay is a Japanese band that specializes in making quirky, genre-blending indie pop.
∙ Inspired by the music of Jimi Hendrix, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Japanese hip-hop group RIP SLYME, Tempalay founder and frontman Ryōto Ohara began playing guitar while still a child.
∙ . The band’s big break came in 2015, when they were selected to play the Fuji Rock Festival’s Rookie A Go-Go stage, which showcased up-and-coming acts.
∙ Their 2017 release from JAPAN 2 was the first Tempalay album to reach the Top 100 of the Oricon Albums chart.
∙ With Love from the 21 Century shot to No. 30 on the Oricon Albums chart in 2019, thanks in part to a social media shoutout from K-pop supergroup BTS.
Members of Tempalay include, or have included, AAAMYYY.
