Inspired by the quirky, melodic 1990s U.S. alt-rock of Weezer and Green Day, witty English singer/songwriter Lauran Hibberd emerged from the same early-2020s Isle of Wight indie scene as Wet Leg and Coach Party. She made her debut live performance at the Isle of Wight Festival, and upon graduating from the local music college in 2015, she won a competition to open the main stage at that year's Bestival. In 2017, Hibberd released her first single, "Hunny Is this What Adults Do?" The year 2019 brought her debut EP, Everything Is Dogs, as well as an appearance at Glastonbury. Her mid-2021 Goober EP featured a cameo from Lydia Night of L.A.'s the Regrettes on "How Am I Still Alive?" Later that year, Hibberd issued her first Virgin Records single, "Charlie's Car," and in 2022 the label released her debut album, Garageband Superstar.
