In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail.
Stealing my mom's Walkman, age 2-ish, to belt out "The Bodyguard" soundtrack while standing on the armrest of a worn-down couch like it was my personal stage. The stuffed animals in that playroom got a LOT of wannabe Whitney belting. Bless em! What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular?
Brandy, Never Say Never
Jazmine Sullivan, Heaux Tales
Lauryn Hill, The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill
Lauryn Hill is church, Jazmine is the choir, and Brandy is the conductor. A perfect trifecta of eclectic RnB, soul, incredible vocal tones & character, and intentional songwriting has never been truer, in my opinion. “Hurt / Heal (feat. Alfred Banks)”
This song is special to me because Alfred and I share a common bond of losing brothers to suicide. We began collaborating on music & mental health events in 2017, and releasing a track together just emphasized that connective & cathartic thread more.
