Les Amazones d'Afrique is a women's supergroup made up of Malian and Beninese musicians/activists. Their internationally celebrated recordings crisscross and combine numerous African traditions and styles from Mali and Nigeria to Ghana and Benin. Their existence is credited to a decade-long campaign for gender equality. Republique Amazone, their 2017 Real World debut album, reflected an attractive, multigenerational meld of modern and traditional West African sounds and styles. After touring the globe for nearly two years, they re-entered the studio in 2019 and emerged with the strident Amazones Power in January 2020. They were prevented from touring by the COVID-19 pandemic. After returning to concert performances in 2022 and 2023, the individual members' schedules finally aligned. They recorded Musow Danse, their third outing for Real World, and released it in February 2024.
