About JOHNNYSWIM
Indie-folk duo JOHNNYSWIM formed after Amanda Sudano, who honed her musical skills touring with her mother—disco legend Donna Summer—began writing songs with future husband Abner Ramirez.
The duo independently released their self-titled EP in 2008, and continued recording several EPs, gaining traction and fans, including Fixer Upper stars Chip and Joanna Gaines, who used the 2014 track “Home” (from JOHNNYSWIM’s debut full-length Diamonds) as the theme song for the HGTV show. Sudano and Ramirez’s relationship with the Gaines husband-and-wife team also led to their own reality series Home on the Road.
With five studio albums—including 2025’s When the War Is Over that features Hamilton star Anthony Ramos—and collabs with other artists like R&B legend Michael McDonald and Christian rock powerhouse NEEDTOBREATHE, JOHNNYSWIM has built a career on warm, soulful songwriting.
