In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail.
"Killing Me Softly" by The Fugees was my favorite song as a child, and what I'd consider the song that made me fall in love with hip-hop. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular?
Brandy, Afrodisiac
D Smoke, Black Habits
Kendrick Lamar, To Pimp a Butterfly
I don't like that I had to pick three! All-time albums to me are works I can listen to with no skips. D-Smoke and Kendrick are amazing & intentional storytellers and players of words. This Brandy album made me fall with her as the vocal bible she is. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song.
“All That Jazz (Bonus)”
Again, hate that I have to choose one. I definitely put myself out there as I do not claim to be a singer. However, R&B is definitely my favorite genre, and I love me some harmonies! At the last minute, I squeezed this one in as a bonus track. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far?
The first thing I thought of was traveling to Berlin, which was my first international trip to talk about how the WeWork Creator Awards Grant benefited Synergy, the first women/femme produced/performed/engineered album as it came to fruition. Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band?
Surprisingly enough, I have yet to do a national and international tour. It's something I'd like to do to reach and inspire more audiences.
