About The Jess Novak Band
In the artist’s words:
Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail.
When I was a kid, my brother was a bass player and loved Jaco Pastorius, Kool and the Gang, Jimi Hendrix, Cream, etc. By age 10, I was telling people I wanted to continue playing violin...but like Hendrix. Now, that's kind of what I do. - Jess
What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular?
Led Zeppelin, Led Zeppelin IV Deluxe Edition
Nikka Costa, Can'tneverdidnothin'
No Doubt, Tragic Kingdom
No Doubt was my earliest and most powerful influence. Zeppelin taught us all what rock music was. And Nikka Costa changed my view of what women could do in music. These shaped me and the band more than I can say. - Jess
Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song.
“Shade”
Someone texted me about their divorce and the words read like lyrics - which is exactly what they became. It's also the last album Nick Fields (trumpet/vocals) was on before he passed and when we hear this song - we think of him. - Jess
What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far?
Honestly, the band feels like family. Being able to celebrate 10 years of JNB in 2026 was one of the proudest moments of my life. I love this team. - Jess
Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band?
We have so much more to achieve, write and accomplish. Bigger stages and more listeners. I love performing with this group because we all bring something unique to the table. We can't wait to share more. - Jess
