About Marigold
Artist Biography
In the artist’s words:
Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. My father had a red 80's squire Strat - the good kind - from his college days around the house growing up. He knew 1 song, SVR's "Pride & Joy". He would play it over and over on weekends. I still have this guitar to this day and love it dearly.
What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Pinegrove, Marigold Rayland Baxter, Wide Awake Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, Damn the Torpedoes Deluxe Edition Tom Petty's music has given me purpose & understanding. Growing up in punk & rock music, I struggled to feel like I was a real singer. Finding Tom's vocal & songwriting style finally gave me a way to feel like I could really do this.
Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Ginger Chew” I wanted to create a melody that never left your head. I hung up all the album's lyrics already written on the wall and used this song as a paint bucket for every beautiful phrase throughout the album to come together. This song was effortless.
What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? We released our album "A Better Place" in April 2022, and hosted an unconventional release party for family & friends in Brooklyn. We created an entire short film visual for the album and played it at the party. The turnout & support was unreal.
Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? Touring overseas in Europe or beyond is a lifelong dream. Growing up in the northeast USA, its kind of the cultural hub of America; I've been fortunate enough to go my entire life with plenty of places to gig - but I've always dreamt of Europe.
