About Ryan Martin John
In the artist’s words:
Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail.
My first musical memory was watching my Dad's old laserdiscs with my brother and sister. It was video of Earth Wind & Fire Live in concert. I was three years old and mesmerised by the amazing colourful costumed musicians, singing gigantic harmonies.
What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular?
Neil Young, After the Goldrush
Radiohead, In Rainbows
The Beach Boys, Pet Sounds
After the Goldrush was the gateway record into understanding actual songcraft. It taught me how the vehicle of song can be used to communicate. In Rainbows and Pet Sounds are perfect records; sonically ambitious, yet connect on a profound level.
Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song.
“Infj”
It's a country song about my Myers Briggs personality type. Possibly the most un-country theme, but I feel like us introverts sometimes would like a bit of recognition for how we view the world in our own quiet little way.
