Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. My grandfather and I would sit in the garden, humming melodies to each other. It was our own secret language. I was always improvising from day one. It wasn’t just about the music, it was the beginnings of communicating and weaving stories together.
What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Barbra Streisand, The Barbra Streisand Album Sarah Vaughan, Sarah Vaughan Shirley Horn, Shirley Horn With Horns Of course I find it impossibly difficult to just pick three, but these albums are consistently on rotation for me. Vocal and storytelling mastery expressed through three individual, special, unique souls.
Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “A New Day, a New Life, a New Love” My new single-we did two takes of this song in the studio and I was convinced the second one was vocally stronger, but there is a certain magical quality in the first take, a more honest delivery, it resonates profoundly. The first take was the one.
What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? Getting to sing at the Olympia Theatre in Paris. One of the most profound, spiritual concerts I think i'll ever experience.
