Peyton specializes in progressive R&B that's intimate and offbeat yet always melodious. The singer and songwriter started in the mid-2010s with a series of independent releases. Among them was "Sweet Honey" (2016), a trippy love ballad that was heard in an episode of Insecure and led to a deal with Stones Throw. The Houston native made her label debut with Reach Out (2019), and has continued to refine her style with the albums PSA (2021) and Au (2025). The latter saw her work through romantic discontent with help from veteran producer Shafiq Husayn.
