Artist Biography
In the artist’s words:
Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. My high school band played a corn festival in Eden, NY, competing to win a coveted $400 and the chance to open for a Beatles cover band, but 3 songs in we were hit with torrential rain and forced to leave stage. We were given $50.
What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Pavement, Wowee Zowee Prince, Sign O' The Times (Remastered) Steely Dan, The Royal Scam The best music, to me, is made when precision meets the tossed-off. These 3 records continually shock me. There are explosions, digressions, mini-operas. They were 3 big inspirations behind my new record.
Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “U Did Me In” I wrote this song, post-breakup, as a jokey blues to make my band laugh. I found it became a freaky Nine Inch Nails-type wall of sound thrasher when we played it. My roommate's dog contributed backing vocals (she howled while I recorded in my room).
What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? I've been playing DIY shows since I was 14 years old, so I've managed to play alongside a ton of talents, from certifieds like Shonen Knife to indie heroes like Wild Pink and Ratboys. I've also made friends with weirdos around the world who I admire.
