About Hermeto Pascoal & Grupo
Hermeto Pascoal & Su Grupo were a Brazilian fusion supergroup whose music criss-crossed folk and pop traditions from choro, frevo, maxixe, baião, forro, and samba with electric jazz, free improvisation, funk, and even carnival music. They released seven albums, including 1982's self-titled debut, 1987's Só Não Toca Quem Não Quer, and 2003's Mundo Verde Esperança, all of which earned laudatory reviews in Brazil, the U.S., Europe, and Asia. They toured almost constantly. In 2022, London's Far Out Recordings issued the unreleased Planetário Da Gávea, recorded at their first concert in Rio De Janeiro in 1981.
