About Linda Sikhakhane
Linda Sikhakhane is a saxophonist, composer, and arranger from South Africa. His physical yet sensitive tone and playing style meld lyrical and spiritual influences from John Coltrane and Billy Harper, to Winston Ngozi, Thandi Ntuli, and Bokani Dyer. He plays and records with South African artists including Brian Thusi, Nduduzo Makhathini, as well as Americans Gregory Potter and Reggie Workman. In 2017 Sikhakhane released debut Two Sides, One Mirror, while at New School University. An Open Dialogue (Live in New York) appeared in 2020. 2022's Isambulo, on Ropeadope, won critical acclaim; he also won the Standard Bank Young Jazz Artist award. The following year he signed with Blue Note and released his third studio album, Iladi. He returned to Blue Note for 2026's LINDA. Centered on his own musical community, he enlisted pianist Makhathini as producer, and his vocalist spouse Omagugu Makhathini as one of the set's singers.
