About Das Lumpenpack
Their band name is German for "rabble," but Das Lumpenpack have consisted of fewer members and more organization than one might assume. Long functioning as a duo, the German group's peppy, punk-affected songs reflect the hopes and anxieties of local youth culture, with a lyrical wit inspired from a most unusual place: slam poetry sessions. Co-founders Jonas Frömming (vocals) and Maximilian Kennel (vocals/guitar) met in Stuttgart, two psychology/education graduates with decorated careers as up-and-coming poets. (Kennel won the Bavarian Poetry Slam championship in 2012 and 2013, while Frömming won the Rhineland-Palatinate state championship in 2013.)
