In the artist’s words:
Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail.
As a child, I built drum kits from my mother’s wicker laundry basket, pots and pans, using wooden spoons as sticks. I heard rhythm everywhere. That fascination never left me and eventually led me to explore rhythms and music from all over the world.

“El As De La Rumba”
El As de la Rumba is very special to me: my son Charlie was born while we were recording it. Listen closely and you’ll hear singer Yma América celebrating his birth in the song.
What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far?
There are too many to choose from, but touring the world with my own groups, such as Drums United and The Cubop City Big Band, and having the opportunity to work with legendary musicians along the way has truly been a dream come true.
Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band?
Well, playing with Paul and Ringo, of course! But I’m very happy where I am. The real bucket list is never-ending: to keep meeting inspiring musicians, discovering new music and always looking for the next musical adventure.
