About Drums United
In the artist’s words:
Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail.
Our earliest memory as Drums United is playing together for the first time and discovering that rhythm needed no translation. Musicians from different traditions instantly found a common language. That moment became the heart of Drums United.
What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular?
Doudou Ndiaye Rose, Djabote
Ojos de Brujo, Bari (Expanded 2010 & Remastered)
Trilok Gurtu, The Trilok Gurtu Collection
Three of our all-time favorite percussion albums, each of which has shaped and inspired the way we approach rhythm as Drums United.

“Charlie's Hattrick”
Charlie’s Hattrick was written for Drums United after my son Charlie, then eight years old, scored three goals in one football match. His hattrick became a rhythm, the rhythm became a composition — and we still love playing it today.
What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far?
Touring through China, South America, Europe, Canada and the USA, sharing our rhythms with audiences from so many different cultures, has been a dream come true for Drums United.
Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band?
We hope to keep exploring, creating and sharing rhythms from around the world — and, most of all, to keep Drums United going strong until we can celebrate our 50th anniversary together!
