Artist Biography
Washington, D.C.'s art-punk combo Durian formed in 1997 and began gigging and recording almost immediately, self-releasing their debut album Tomorrow 6:30 later that year. Throughout the rest of the '90s, the quintet -- which consists of vocalist Matt Hermann, guitarists Kevin Adams and Frank Stewart, bassist/vocalist Cameron Brock, and drummer Jason Merriman, later replaced by Derek Fricano -- toured with bands like the Dismemberment Plan, the Wicked Farleys, and Sweep The Leg Johnny, and recorded consistently, teaming up with J. Robbins as their producer for 1998's Goodwill/Dogtrack seven-inch, a song that appeared on the 1999 compilation On Law of Inertia and 2000's second full-length, Sometimes You Scare Me. ~ Heather Phares
