About emerger
Cape Town musicians Emma de Goede (piano and vox) and Gerrit Matthee (producer and multi-instrumentalist) were successful individual artists for nearly a decade before they formed EMERGER at the University of Cape Town. With their newfound union, the duo express themselves freely, both lyrically and compositionally, with richly-textured electronic tracks full of pensive, thoughtful melodies and yearning for human connection. Their music balances Goede's superb vocal control and Matthee’s skilful construction, and draws from pop, electronic and even hip-hop elements. As a result, EMERGER’s cinematic alt-pop has taken them to London—where they completed work on the award-winning debut single “Break & Fall”.
