Detroit trio Shadow Show was formed by longtime friends and bandmates, bringing a Beatles-like melodic sensibility to energetic garage pop songs. The group cultivated an air of mystery and danger with the mod-tinged rock songs that made up their 2020 debut album Silhouettes.
Shadow Show formed in 2018, made up of guitarist/vocalist Ava East, drummer/vocalist Kerrigan Pearce, and bassist/vocalist Kate Derringer. All three had previously been members of the more classic rock-influenced band Deadly Viper Assassination Squad, and Pearce was actively drumming for Moonwalks when Shadow Show started out. The newly formed trio leaned into both mysterious and otherworldly lyrical themes while their music explored mod pop melodies, slightly psychedelic garage rock, and layered group harmonies. The band released two singles and played several gigs before stepping out of the public eye for a time to work on their debut. That self-produced album, Silhouettes, appeared in early 2020, and international tours were planned around its release. ~ Fred Thomas
