Artist Biography
While many French acts have little effect on the other side of the Pacific, '80s synth pop duo Niagara had some minor success before calling it a day in 1992. Made up of Muriel Laporte on vocals and Daniel Chenevez on synths and keyboards, Niagara drew many comparisons -- both musically and in membership format -- to Eurythmics. They came together in 1984 in Rennes, and by 1986 had scored two hit singles. They gained a following in Canada in 1989, but didn't remain in the business much longer. After two more albums, Muriel and Daniel went their separate ways. ~ Chris True
