About Opus Kink
Brighton, U.K.-based post-punk band Opus Kink eschew guitars in favor of brass instruments, piling on layers of theatricality, literary references, and cinematic influences. Their intoxicating sound is elevated in a live setting, where their performances are often compared to jazz-punk seances and gothic rituals.
Sprung from the hotbed of talent in Brighton's D.I.Y. music scene in 2017, they featured six core members led by vocalist/guitarist Angus Rogers. By 2018 they had established themselves locally as a unique live experience. They recorded their debut singles "Faster Than the Radio" and "Mosquito" at Toe Rag Studios in London, but they released the tracks on their own label, Hideous Mink Records. Their brand of surreal jazz-punk became an underground hit in the U.K., but the COVID-19 pandemic halted their ascent. They used the time to write and record their debut EP, 2020's Requiem for a Quarantine. They spent the next few years building steam in preparation for their debut album, 2026's The Sweet Goodbye.
