About Willie Green Project
In the artist’s words:
Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail.
I began playing at my dad’s church, where the music and fellowship taught me how rhythm brings people together. At the same time, my uncle taught me drums, showing me how to feel the beat and express emotion through rhythm.
What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular?
J Dilla, Jay Dee a.k.a. King Dilla
John Coltrane, My Favorite Things
Pharoah Sanders, Pharaoh Sanders Quintet
Most of these albums have introduced me to different aspects of jazz and Black American music in unique ways. My Favorite Things by John Coltrane was probably the most important record I’ve ever listened to — it’s what first got me into jazz.
