About The Skids
The Scottish art-punk unit Skids formed in Dunfermline in 1977. Comprised of vocalist Richard Jobson, guitarist Stuart Adamson, bassist William Simpson, and drummer Tom Kellichan, the group issued the single "Reasons" on their own No Bad label before signing to Virgin. Their U.K. Top Ten debut album, Scared to Dance, appeared in 1979 being quickly followed by their sophomore, the arty, Days of Europa. Two more albums, 1980's The Absolute Game and 1981's Joy followed before the band went their separate ways. 2007 saw them return to celebrate 30 years of Skids and to also pay tribute to Adamson, who passed in 2001. Over the following years, the group issued four more albums -- 2018's Burning Cities, 2019's Peaceful Times, 2021's Songs from a Haunted Ballroom, and 2023's Destination Düsseldorf --, as well as continue to tour across the U.K. and Europe.
