Artist Biography
Award-winning Mexican singer-songwriter Natalia Lafourcade, one of Latin America’s biggest stars, is known for her original pop-rock compositions and traditional folk music interpretations.
∙ With its mix of pop, rock, and bossa nova, her self-titled debut album shot to No.1 on the Mexican album charts in 2003 and was certified Platinum in her native country.
∙ Casa—her second album, recorded with her short-lived band Natalia y La Forquetina—earned her the first of her 14 Latin Grammy Awards.
∙ After breaking up Natalia y La Forquetina in 2006, Lafourcade moved to Canada and composed her sole all-instrumental album, Las 4 Estaciones Del Amor.
∙ Hasta la Raíz, her acclaimed 2015 collection of songs of love and heartbreak, won a Grammy Award for Best Latin Rock, Urban or Alternative Album.
∙ She and R&B singer Miguel recorded the Oscar-winning canción ranchera “Remember Me” for the movie Coco, and performed it at the 2017 Academy Awards ceremony.
∙ The video for “Nunca Es Suficiente,” her breezy collaboration with cumbia group Los Ángeles Azules, has garnered more than 1 billion views.
∙ Lafourcade was featured in a 2020 episode of the TV series Song Exploder to discuss the process behind writing “Hasta la Raíz.”
