About Nell Mescal
Born in Maynooth, County Kildare, Ireland in 2003, Nell Mescal honed her musical craft while recovering from surgery to correct scoliosis as a teenager. Inspired by the likes of Fleetwood Mac, Birdy, and Bon Iver, Mescal's inviting, versatile voice recalls Lucy Dacus and even a hint of Kate Bush's acrobatic timbre, matched by an Olivia Rodrigo-style maximalist approach to her pop-folk songs. Nell began self-releasing songs in 2020 -- her brother, actor Paul Mescal encouraged new fans to check her work out -- before dropping out of school and moving to London to focus fully on her art. A heavy-duty recording and touring schedule propelled works like the EPs Teeth (2023), featuring standout "In My Head," and 2024's Can I Miss It for a Minute? Mescal graduated to the big leagues in 2025 with the EP The Closest We'll Get, produced by Adrianne Lenker collaborator Philip Weinrobe and released through Atlantic Records.
