Artist Biography
An experimental indie pop duo with a brooding, vintage noir-tinged air, Drab City's sophisticated sound reveals elements of dream pop, dub, exotica, and more. Their first album, Good Songs for Bad People, came out in 2020.
Both musicians with transient backgrounds, producer Christopher Dexter Greenspan (oOoOO), a New Jersey native, and Asia (Islamiq Grrrls), who grew up in Hagen, Germany, met when they were both living in Berlin in the mid-2010s. They teamed up for the oOoOO-Islamiq Grrrls collaboration Faminine Mystique, which was released on Greenspan's own Nihjgt Feelings label in 2018.
Calling themselves Drab City, the duo signed with U.K. indie Bella Union for their next album, the nostalgia-steeped Good Songs for Bad People. The debut arrived in June of 2020. ~ Marcy Donelson
