About Marottes
In the artist’s words:
Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail.
Playing Sonic the Hedgehog on Sega with my dad when I was really young was one of the first musical influences I can remember. I can also vividly remember my mom playing Ace of Base and Madonna on cassettes when we'd drive out to Cedar Point.
What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular?
Animal Collective, Merriweather Post Pavilion
Crystal Castles, Crystal Castles
MGMT, Oracular Spectacular
Each of these albums came out around the time I had an iPod and drivers license. They were formative albums in my youth and still bring me great inspiration.
I still feel like I'm hearing them for the first time each listen.
Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song.
“Mona Lisa Lied”
This song came to me as a gift from the universe while napping on a summer day filled with wildfire smoke. I still don't understand what it means but I wrote and sang what I heard during that nap and didn't question it. What do you think it means?
What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far?
When I was a teenager, I used to drive around Cleveland listening to WRUW 91.1 FM hearing all sorts of eclectic bands and musicians. I never thought I'd actually get the chance to make an album and play it live on that same station many years later.
Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band?
I'd love to create a video game that has alternate versions of my songs and plays like an immersive music video.
