About Gerry Arias
In the artist’s words:
Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. I was seven when my dad accidentally bought me a Black Sabbath tape instead of Los Ángeles Negros. Ward’s drumming lit the fuse. From that moment, rhythm became the core of everything I do — a mistake that grew into a lifelong obsession with sound.
What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Nick Drake, Pink Moon The Beatles, Abbey Road (Remastered) The Cure, Disintegration 2010 Remaster Abbey Road taught me albums could be full journeys, Disintegration showed how atmosphere carries as much weight as lyrics, and Pink Moon proved intimacy could feel universal. Together they shaped my sense of mood, cohesion, and honest songwriting.
Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. Sweetest Melody is about chasing connection through music—walking cloudy roads, hearing rhythms in nature, and finding light in longing. A lo-fi folk dreamscape with cinematic edges, it’s my most streamed song and a gateway into my sound.
What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? Playing percussion on Natalie Merchant’s Tigerlily tour in the mid-90s was unforgettable. Sharing the stage at venues like PNC Bank Arts Center, Jones Beach, and Hartford’s amphitheater remains a career highlight.
Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? I’d love to take my songs across borders—touring Europe or Latin America, connecting with audiences in their own languages. Sharing that cultural exchange through music is still a dream I hope to make real.
