Combining elements of punk and shoegaze, the Dublin indie rock quintet Gurriers emerged in the early 2020s with a raucous, urgent sound, delivering biting social and political commentary using half-sang, half-spoken lyrics. An early, rehearsal space-recorded version of "Approachable" became their first single in 2021, and 12 months later it was their third, "Boy," that received frequent airplay on Steve Lamacq's BBC 6Music show. A 2023 re-recording of "Approachable" with Robocobra Quartet's Chris W. Ryan marked their last work before the band collaborated extensively with the producer Alex Greaves. Those sessions led to the release of their 2024 debut album Come and See.
