About Pacific Symphony Orchestra
The Pacific Symphony Orchestra, based in Orange County, California, is reputed for adventurous programming and a commitment to American composers. The orchestra reaches several hundred Southern California residents with its heavy concert schedule each year. Highlights of its history include performing the finale concert at Carnegie Hall's celebration of Philip Glass in 2018 and a five-city tour of China shortly after. The Pacific Symphony's recording program has been equally ambitious, encompassing major commissions from Glass, William Bolcom, and Michael Daugherty. In 1997, it recorded an album of Takemitsu's works with the Nexus percussion ensemble. The year 2001 brought an impressive recording of Lukas Foss's Two Piano Concertos. In 2024, it released a recording of James MacMillan's Fiat Lux, which it commissioned. Pianist Orli Shaham and members of the orchestra issued American Tapestry in 2026, showcasing chamber music by living American composers.
