The undefeated MVP of perreo, De La Ghetto has been a hitmaking fixture of reggaetón since the early 2000s. He was born Rafael Castillo Torres in The Bronx, NY, in 1984. However, he was raised by his grandmother in Puerto Rico, finding a mix of trouble and artistic inspiration on the island streets. In 2004, he launched a rap duo with Dominican rapper Arcángel, and within a short time, appeared on the seminal Luny Tunes mixtape Más Flow - Los Benjamins with reggaetón classic “Mi Fanatica.” Though the pair split in 2007, De La Ghetto further proved his formidable songcraft on beloved marquesina anthems like Tito El Bambino's “Siente El Boom” remix and his Jowell & Randy crossover, “Sensacion del Bloque.” Though one of the godfathers of classic reggaetón, De La Ghetto remains a favorite guest among his younger peers, popping up on Feid's prismatic BAHíA DUCATI LP and Bad Bunny's trap-fueled nadie sabe lo que va a pasar mañana.
